Bafarawa’s Hijack Of Sokoto PDP May Force Members To Join APC Before 2015 Election – Sarkin Gobir
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State, Alhaji Abdullahi Sarkin Gobir Adiya, yesterday warned that unless the PDP urgently puts its house in order, it will witness mass defection of its members to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Sarkin Gobir, who was a member of the committee set up by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that met in Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, to work out modalities for the election of the present Sokoto governor, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko in 2007, said the PDP was in dire need of redemption from the grip of a former governor of the state, Attahiru Bafarawa and his cohorts.
Bafarawa defected to the PDP along with his supporters some few months ago from the APC.
While warning that the self-centered nature of the former, who is now not just a member of the PDP in the state as he has also hijacked the party structure without recourse to the principle of equity, might spell doom for the party should such anomaly continue unchecked before 2015 elections.
“I respect Bafarawa but I don’t understand certain things about him. You cannot say only you can do everything. I started quarrelling with many people who left him. I am not even talking with some of them, but I have come to realise that his interest is final”, he said.
