A political pressure group
under the auspices of Urhobo Grassroot Political Forum (UGPF) at the weekend,
endorsed Chief Ede Dafinone for the Senate seat of Delta Central Senatorial District
in Delta State.
The group stated that
haven examined all the candidates that are jostling for the senate position in
Delta Central Senatorial District, the group concluded that it was Chief Ede
Dafinone that is more qualified to take over from where late senator Ewherido
stopped, judging from the fact that he contested under the umbrella of the
Democratic People’s Party (DPP) primaries with late Ewherido in 2011.
Speaking further, the
President of the Urhobo Grassroot Political Forum, Bar. E.O. Oginibo added that
the philanthropic gesture of Dafinone towards the development of the Urhobo
People through Senator David Dafinone Foundation with training centres in
Sapele, Oghara, Mosogar and Jesse town to train and empower the youths in
electrical, hairdressing and other various professions, demonstrated that Chief
Ede is God sent to the Urhobo people to help to remove them from the abject
poverty and penury they found themselves in recent times. While appealing that
the training centre should be extended to Uvwie, Udu, Ughelli North, Ughelli
South and even Ethiope East as well, so that more Urhobos would benefit from
the kind gesture of Chief Ede Dafinone and he called on other Urhobo leaders to
emulate his sense of benevolence towards Urhobo people.
The group implored people
of Delta Central not to allow this golden opportunity for them to lay good
foundation, by unanimously endorsing Chief Ede Dafinone to slip out of their
hands. According to the group, they said that Chief Ede Dafinone has the
interest of Urhobo people at heart and all that is needed from the people of
the Delta Central Senatorial District now is for them to endorse and support
him to serve his people at the upper house in the National Assembly, Abuja.
