OKOWA HAS BEEN ORDAINED BY GOD TO GOVERN DELTA STATE - Sebastian Okoh

IKA WEEKLY

Mr. Sebastian Okoh has said that God has anointed Senator Ifeanyi to be governor of Delta State. He stated this in a recent interview he granted Ika Weekly in Umunede.

Excerpt:

Sir, it is a pleasure to meet you, can you please introduce yourself?

I am Mr. Sebastian Okoh

What was the outcome of the March 28, presidential and National Assembly election in Umunede, your home town?

The March 28 presidential and National Assembly election was a huge success in Umunede. It was one of our best outing in recent time. For the first time, Umunede people decided to fight a common course that will shapen its future. What we saw in last Saturday's election showed that Umunede is tired of its current position and the only way to liberate Umunede is by investing in the politics of the day. What I mean is that the investment can only be shown by our votes. What we saw in the presidential and National Assembly election last Saturday is something that gladdens my heart. There was really no need to campaign for anybody, every Umunede person knew that at this point in time the only way to show their commitment to the ruling party is by making their votes count and everybody came out en-masse to participate in the exercise. The huge turnout was indeed encouraging and we thank God that our votes count. We voted for all PDP candidates in the election.

Was there any record of violence on that day of the election?

No, there was really no need for the exchange of words let alone fight. So, far last Saturday election is one of the best recorded in Umunede in recent time.

What about the issue of CARD READER, was there no complain?

Materials arrived Umunede as early as 8.0clock, only there was initial issue of managing the process, but that was on the INEC side. Accreditation started about 10.am and everything went on smoothly and peacefully. Initially, there were hitches on the use of the CARD READERS but thank God that before the end of the day, manual voting was allowed by INEC.

You are not contesting for any office in the 2015 elections, how come you are committing so much resources to it particularly in your community?

My interest in this 2015 elections particularly in Umunede is that I want my community to move forward. My interest as an Umunede man is to encourage my people to see the light in the ruling party, PDP. Most particularly now that our governorship candidate is an Ika a man of the people, a listening and caring man, a candidate that is tested and trusted a candidate that will surely make the difference, a candidate that has the fear of God in him, and a candidate that is hungry and prepared to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

How prepared is Umunede for the April 11 governorship and House of Assembly election?

The outcome of the presidential and National assembly elections showed that Umunede is hungry for change and that Umunede people are hungry to move the town forward. We are adequately prepared to deliver more than 100% vote for our worthy brother Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and Mr. Tony Elekeokwuri as governor and State House of Assembly respectively. Like I said earlier we do not need any campaign the awareness is already there in Umunede that our candidates for April elections are Senator Okowa and Tony Elekeokwuri.

Suddenly you have become a household name in Ika land. How did you perform the magic?

Let me give glory to God for it is not by my power but His making. My achievements and success for far has just proved to me that when you are honest, straight forward and committed to a course people would actually recognize you. In answering your question, I will tell you that my commitment, my openess and honesty brought me to this position I am today.

Ika politicians are they worth working with?

As human beings we are not perfect we are only working towards perfection. The fact is that you have the good, the bad and the ugly. But what makes one a good leader is the ability to understand and work with people. So far, I will say politicians in Ika land are all good people.

Are you optimistic that Senator Ifeanyi Okowa will emerge victorious in the April 11 governorship election?

I am sure as a journalist you have been following the system, starting the governorship primaries. Ordinarily I will push the question back to you based on your knowledge about Okowa and his governorship ambition. What do you think? Are you expecting anything less than victory. Okowa is a politician who believes in human investment. He has invested so much on his people. The support he is getting from Deltans at the moment is not a surprise, it is because of his goodwill Above all, the hand of God is in Okowa's election Okowa has been ordained by God to be the next governor of Delta State. There is nothing any man can do about it.

There are views being expressed by some persons that PDP has not lived up to expectations?

You know human needs are insatiable. There is no amount of work that the PDP would have done to satisfy every Nigerian. I am not saying that the PDP has done very well but saying that there is always room for improvement Democracy is a continuous process. We learn from our mistakes and I am sure PDP leaders and members will always correct their mistakes. Okowa, as the executive governor of Delta State starting from May 29, will make the best governor Delta State has ever produced and Nigerian in general. I am very positive and certain about that.

What is your message to Deltans?

On a level playing ground, Okowa is sure of the 50% votes in Delta Central. If the Urhobos have their way they will all vote for Okowa. It is not the PDP they are going to vote for but the personality of Okowa. Like I earlier mentioned Okowa has goodwill in every party of Delta State in addition, Delta Central and South have had their share of the governance of the state, so, for the sake of equity, fairness and justice, it is the turn of Delta North senatorial district.
