A former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipreye Sylva, has said that President Goodluck Jonathan will not get 25 percent of the votes in the state in the February 14 presidential election.

Speaking yesterday at a press briefing in Abuja, Sylva said the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, would get more votes in the state than the president, who hails from Bayelsa and was also a former governor of the state.

According to Timipre, Jonathan has disappointed the people by failing to address the problems facing the state and the country in the six years he spent as president.

The press briefing was also used to formally receive a former health commissioner in the state, Chief Frank Akpoebi, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party over a fortnight ago.

“We have gotten to a place where our presidential candidate, General Mohammadu Buhari will win overwhelmingly in Bayelsa State and President Jonathan might only be looking for 25 percent in his own state. We know that, but we also know more than you the product, the person that he also is”, he said.

On his part, the defector, Akpoebi said his decision to dump PDP for the APC was because of the president’s failure as a leader, maintaining that Jonathan has used divide and rule tactics to pitch Nigerians against one another.
