No Compensation For Terror Victims - Jonathan
On Tuesday, President Goodluck Jonathan ruled out compensation payments to victims of Boko Haram terrorist attacks, as well as to those who suffered from other groups' violence.
After the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges delivered their report at the Presidential Villa, the President said the Government will only look at possible ways to help victims return to their routine activities and businesses.
The war with terrorism is not yet won in the North, the President observed, despite the progress made.
No compensation will be paid, the President said on the issue of the victims' support, but the Government will see how people who have suffered can be assisted, and ensure the right decision are taken.
"Incidentally, we have security council meeting because this committee was an offshoot of the security council, and we will review some aspects of this report and probably set up a team to look at it, and work out a planned programme in terms of implementation of the recommendations."
