Anambra Scandals: PDP Candidate, Nwoye’s Name Missing In Voters Register, So As Others

The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the Anambra, Mr. Tony Nwoye, so as his relatives, could not vote in Saturday’s election because he could not find his name in the voter’s register at his Nsugbe Ward 1 polling booth in Anambra East Local Government Area.

Nwoye and his parents were unable to vote just as he alleged that over 30 percent of his supporters were disenfranchised as they could not trace their names in the register.

INEC officials were unable to provide any reasons for the situation even though all these people had valid voters card.

Nwoye said to the journalists that rigging of the election was pre-planned and the style adopted by APGA in connivance with INEC was to remove people’s name from the voter’s register especially in areas where APGA lacked support.

According to him, the same list that was used to disenfranchise him and his parents was that one used in voting in the last election. He couldn't but wonder why how this time around over 30 percent of the registered names were missing.

He stated he tried to communicate to the INEC boss Attahiru Jega but the attempts failed.

Nwoye said as at now, the only option for him is to resign himself to fate until the results of the elections were released.

But he expressed optimism that despite the plot to disenfranachise him and his supporters in his hometown, he would still emerge victorious.
