Photos : Governor Amaechi and convoy blocked from entering Rivers Govt House by police

A detachment of heavily armed policemen from the Rivers State Police Command on Wednesday evening stopped the convoy of Governor Rotimi Amaechi from entering the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt.

The governor, who was returning from an undisclosed location, met an army of policemen at the gate of his official residence, which prevented him from driving into the premises.

As at the time of this report, it was not clear what necessitated the action of the police, but it is  allegedly connected with the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.

In a related development, party faithful loyal to the governor under the auspices of the ‘New’ PDP opened a parallel secretariat of the party in Port Harcourt, earlier in the day.

However, the secretariat was sealed 20 minutes after it was opened.
