The
much publicized 185 million naira purportedly given to senator (Dr)
Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa by Hon. Dumbiri Uweh, a state house of assembly
aspirant in 2007 in Ika North-East Local Government Area, Delta state is
gradually taking a new dimension. It will be recalled that Hon. Dumbiri
Uweh, who contested against Hon. Sam Obi in the 2007 election had
alleged that senator (Dr) Okowa, Chairman senate committee on health,
representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National assembly
had defrauded him to the tune of 185 million naira. The allegation have
been found to be false, as well as calculated attempt to tarnish the
image and reputation of the revered senator Okowa. This is coming at a
time Hon. Sam Obi broke his silence to say that the Hon. Dumbiri Uweh
lied. Over a telephone conversation with Hon. Sam Obi, the allegation is
baseless, unwarranted,unnecessary and frivolous. In his word "the
senator (Dr) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa is a man of credibility ". According
to him, Hon. Dumbiri Uweh should publish a signed copy of the petition
and agreement reached between my self and h if his allegation was
correct''.

News Analysis of Nigeria(DNA) in trying to affirm this story further
contacted another personality in connection to Hon. Uweh's allegation,
Justice Sylvester Ehiwario who confirmed he was not a party to any
meeting with Dumbiri Uweh in the alleged matter. According to him Hon.
Dumbirii Uweh never had such issue with him. Daily news and analysis of
Nigeria ( DNA) in a phone interview with the royal highness palace the
spoke person said there is no iota of the truth in the said allegation
as his royal highness does not go to hotel to settle disputes between
his subjects all disputes between his subjects are settled in the
palace. This affirmation of the words of Hon. Sam Obi by justice
Ehiwarior simply shows that no matter the distance lies runs, truth will
always pursue and overtake. However, effort to reach the revered
senator to react to the unveiling truth have not been successful.
According to Mr. Uzum the spokesperson to senator Okowa ''A man's
character is an accumulation of his way of life and perception. Before
the advent of our present 14 years of unabated democracy, Sen Okowa
started as Secretary to Ika LGA, LGA chairman, 3 times commissioner, SSG
and now a Senator. Its on record that Sen Okowa did not
take,convert,steal what does not belong to him. A man of utmost
sincerity,value and a promise keeper.
An opportunist
in the Person of Dumbiri Uweh cannot upset the apple cart because he
knows that is in Sen Okowa is mightier than them. The allegations are
serious but laughable as Uweh chose a wrong victim. A Daniel will come
to judge soon as the law must take its cause. The wheel of justice
grinds slowly but will surely get to destination.
All
Uweh's allegations are blatant lies that cannot be substantiated.'' said
Mr. Uzum the director of communication to senator Okowa. He further
described as false the reports posted on the social media (Anioma Voice)
and credited to a former commissioner in Delta State,Mr Dumbiri Uweh,
accusing Senator Ifeanyi Okowa of allegedly collecting N185million on
behalf of Hon. Uweh without remitting same to him. In the words of Barr
Uzum, “ordinarily we are not supposed to react to the unwarranted
provocation reported on the person of distinguished Senator Ifeanyi
Okowa on the social media which was credited to Dumbiri Uweh, but we are
of the school of thought that keeping the record straight is a
prerogative we owe the entire public. First of all, let us look at the
issues raised by Dumbiri Uweh, where he alleged that he contested and
purportedly won an election and someone else's name was written. I think
the first thing he should have done was to go to court. Justice is
incorruptible and the last hope of the common man. For Uweh not to
thread the part of justice is a dis-service to himself. He made the
world to understand through his various publications that he negotiated
and sold his alleged mandate by the people of Ika North East Local
Government, but unfortunately he never won any election. No court of law
has pronounced such and INEC has not made any pronouncement in that
direction, so he is just an opportunist”.
Hon. Dunbiri Uweh was not available for comment and did not reply to any of our calls and smses.
“But
its of our knowledge that Uweh is only dancing to the gallery and wants
to drag the name of distinguished Senator Okowa to the mud in order to
get cheap relevance. Senator Okowa is a man of peace, whatever he
ventures into, he sees it to the end. I am using this medium to advise
the people of Ika and Anioma in its entirety not to be used as an
instrument of destabilization, especially ahead of 2015. Certain
personalities of monumental insignificance are only looking for what
will bring Okowa down (Pull Him Down). Unfortunately, Okowa is not a man
that will be pulled down just like that. We are debunking all the
allegations by Dumbiri Uweh that Senator Okowa facilitated the peace
meeting of his post election case and defrauded him of N185m having
collected N15m making it N200m.
“We are sounding out a
signal that we the youths of Ika nation will not hesitate to invoke the
hands of the law in making sure that the name of Senator Okowa is not
dragged to the mud. We are putting the law enforcement agents on notice
on the issue of character assassination. Okowa is known for peace, unity
and tolerance. For Uweh to be alleging that he, Okowa defrauded him is a
slap to Ika nation. We are calling on well meaning Ika people to advise
the likes of Uweh and other persons who have decided to use cheap
blackmail to pull down the name of Senator Okowa to have a rethink.“The
marriage between Senator Okowa and Delta State Government house in 2015
has already been ordained by God.
No man can put
asunder. Okowa's critics have no choice than to rally round and support
him, for he is a man who has contributed much to his people, both at the
local government and state levels. We are equally using this
opportunity to call on Ika youths to stand by the truth. We are also
using this forum to send a message to Uweh that issues are properly
addressed in court not on the pages of newspaper Okowa agreed to mediate
on Uweh's case for the interest of peace, fairness, equity and justice.
Fortunately, the person Uweh contested election with is still alive.

Uzum called on the press as well as social network providers to always
verify facts before doing any publication so that they do not give cheap
popularity to those he called undesirable elements in the society.
“Mr.
Uweh and his cohorts would have treaded the part of honour by allowing
sleeping dogs lie. We also call on the stakeholders in Ika politics to
rally round Senator Okowa in 2015 governorship election because when a
man has done so much for his people, we have no choice than to promote
him." Meanwhile Deltans in diaspora condemns of calumny against senator
Ifeanyi Okowa by Mr Dumbiri Uweh. Deltans in Diaspora has warned Mr Uweh
and group against the campaign of calumny and blackmail against the
person of Senator Okowa.
Speaking on behalf of Deltan
in Diaspora Dr Phillip Ofume said a frivolous and baseless petition was
written by Dumbiri Uweh which was published in several social blogs
accusing the reputable senator of some kind of fraud.We advice that
instead of resorting to blackmail and unwarranted heating of politics,
the Court is still there for him to go and vent his grievances.
It
is so sad that man's inhumanity to fellow man can extend to the form of
using unnecessary, unwarranted and frivolous accusations to pull down
others and mis-inform the general public; to distract the attention of a
visionary leader to score cheap political goal.

Nothing
pulls a man off the track fast enough than distraction. It is a
deliberate act that takes the attention of an individual or group of
individuals from what is progressive and result-yielding. When the
frivolity becomes enormous, it could also be described as a terrible
thing said by many, believed upon by many but cannot be proved by any.
It is therefore, not impossible and unexpected for it to cut across all
strata of human existence.
Wonders, they say, shall
never cease and there's nothing new under the sun, whether a mischief or
a reality. The evil that men do lives with them and beyond and that
which goes around shall surely come around someday and somehow. The
chance of information acceptability to the public is a sine-qua-non
before information dissemination. Therefore, a wise person is expected
to consider the tendency of a boomerang before taking a major step in
life.
Hon. Dumbiri Uweh, a supposed political leader in
Ika nation and beyond, a supposed mentor, a supposed adviser to many, a
supposed counselor to mention but a few has suddenly declared, proved
and exposed himself as not only unqualified, but also an opponent of

Uweh, a House of Assembly contestant in 2007 election in Ika North-East
Local Government area of Delta state, Nigeria was said to have alleged
that Distinguished Senator Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, Senator representing
Delta North in the present National Assembly had defrauded (Uweh) to the
tone of One Hundred and Eight five Million naira (#185,000,000) in a
clandestine bribe deal of about Two Hundred Million naira (#200,000,000)
at about November 2010.

State House of Assembly appeared to be in the centre of the storm. If
Hon. Dumbiri Uweh had sworn to a court affidavit to corroborate the
publication of the press as being true, his allegation should have been
taken seriously. However, before he throws caution to the wind and put
himself into a deeper quagmire, it is good to let Hon. Dumbiri Uweh know
that a legally confirmed giver of bribe is as liable as a legally
confirmed taker. A politician that is ignorant of this fact is not
expected to be a leader and therefore remains unqualified for any
political field of endeavour. Acceptability of allegation by public for
purpose-accomplishment is another matter Hon. Uweh bridged protocols.
In
all ramifications of political consideration, the allegation of Hon.
Dumbiri Uweh has no bearing with the person of Senator (Dr) Arthur
Ifeanyi Okowa. The Senator's achievements in youth and general
empowerment, Infrastructural advancement and development, accommodation,
supports, political fellowships, and encouragement to the needy and
down-trodden to mention but a few speaks positive volumes for him. No
one of Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa can be ascribed a being
fraudulent, not even since he got to the National Assembly.
The
earlier Hon. Dumbiri Uweh goes for a re-think and amend his ways, the
better it could be for him. Otherwise, if he continues with the
perceived tricks, it could be declared a distraction to Ika Political
peace and progress if its not already so. We are in a time that politics
in Ika nation deserves a notable improvement in all conditions. No Ika
politician is expected to pull down fellow politicians or being used by
outsiders to divide us, not even by aspersions that cannot be proved. I
conclude by saying that Hon. Dumbiri Uweh and other Ika politicians must
not forget the golden precept, "He who must destroy another in order to
succeed, must have destruction awaiting him at the post of his
success".
