A thrill-seeking Ukrainian couple met a tragic end after they stopped on their way home to have s*x on a train tracks and were hit by a train.

According to Ukrainian Interior Ministry, which announced the Saturday morning accident, the couple 'wanted to experience an extreme sensation near the railroad tracks.

They were returning home from a party at a friend's house when they decided to stop on the tracks. 

Reports say they were drunk at the time, so they failed to overcome their natural passion when walking home.'

Unfortunately, the '30-something' woman was killed by the train while her 41-year-old male companion lost both legs, but survived to tell the story.

PHOTO: Three Potential Stowaway Teenagers Apprehended in Lagos AirportThree potential stowaway teenagers, arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on September 24 and 25, were handed over to their parents by the Police Command on September 30, 2013, Monday.

The would-be stowaways were identified as Joshua Amadi, 14, from Ebonyi State; Onyedikachi Ukpabio 14, Abia, and Lateef Popoola 13, Ogun. Their relatives picked up the released boys at the airport.

One of the teenagers, Onyedicachi Ukpabio, an SS1 student, said they had not decided where to travel to before they were arrested.

He added that they were just at the departure hall when they saw a man, who approached them and asked them if they had a BlackBerry charger to enable him charge his phone.

Ukpabio said they told the man that they didn’t have one, before his friend, Amadi, asked the man if he knew the plane going to Malaysia.

He said the question made the man to alert the airport police and got them arrested.

Popoola, a primary three pupil from Ogun State, was caught on September 25, 2013, Wednesday, a day after Ukpabio and Amadi were arrested.

It would be noted that this is at least the third case of stowaway passengers in the last month. It all began with Arik Air stowaway teenager incident in the end of August 2013, which was followed by the case of a 25-year-old man, who has been arrested at Benin airport in the beginning of September for attempting to gain access into the airside.

Christ Embassy Distributes 30m Free Rhapsody Of Reality

CHRIST Embassy Church, during the week, flagged off its nationwide free distribution of over 30 million copies of Rhapsody of Reality, a daily devotional of the church and Bibles, in commemoration of Nigeria’s 53rd Independence anniversary celebration, reports PETER DURU.

Speaking at a ceremony in Makurdi, the pastor-in-charge of the church in Benue State, Gbuyi Olubitan said; “the free distribution of the devotional and Bibles is part of the church’s deliberate effort to galvanize the prayer life of Nigerians as we celebrate our independence as a nation.”

While pointing out that the church and its partners had invested huge funds on the project, he said , “over 150,000 copies of the prayer book would be freely distributed in Benue state.

“The Benue church will in the next few days also kick start its free medical outreach services in some communities in the state just as we will also embark on the completion of construction work on some blocks of classrooms in Makurdi town, all in commemoration of the celebrations,” he said.

Olubitan said the church had also undertaken to positively impact the lives of the youths of the state through periodic seminars and workshops that would prepare them for the challenges of becoming useful to themselves and the society.

According to him, “the church is deliberately reaching out to Nigerians as part of its social responsibility to people and the benefitting communities.”

In his speech, Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Dr. Samuel Ortom who was the spe cial guest at the ceremony, urged the various religious groups in the country to always uphold the tenets of religious tolerance and harmony, which he said was key to checking the security challenge facing the country.

Represented by his wife, Mrs. Eunice Ortom, the minister said, “our country is today faced with a lingering security challenge which is a strange phenomenon in our body polity; while government strives hard to check the menace, I urge religious groups in the country to eschew those tenets that tend to divide our people along religious and social lines.

I would also implore other churches that do not reach out to the people to emulate Christ Embassy.”

Low key Independence Anniversary At Presidential Villa

The Federal Government on Tuesday held a low key celebration to mark the nation’s 53rd independence anniversary at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

There was a special Presidential change of guard to mark the occasion yesterday. The ceremony, which lasted for about two hours, was held at the fore-court of the Presidential Villa, Abuja to replace the normal full military parade and entertainments characteristic of the previous ones held at the Eagle Square.

President Goodluck Jonathan had earlier indicated that this year’s anniversary would be low keyed involving only the usual change of guards which he said was a normal exercise always done on Monday mornings but for the independence anniversary, it was shifted to yesterday.

The event started with the arrival of President Jonathan. He however did not appear in his ceremonial military uniform. He inspected the quarter guards before marching to the Villa forecourt to receive national salute which was followed by rendition of the National Anthem.

The Prayers were offered by the President of Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritshejafor who read from the Holy Bible Genesis 8:5 before rendering Christian prayer while the Chief Imam of the Abuja National Mosque, Shiek Usman Muhammad rendered Moslem prayer.

The event witnessed the inspection of new Guard/Quarter guard, silent drills, posting of sentries and color, the inspection of weapons and uniforms were inspected to ensure conformity with military standards.

Shortly after the ceremony, President Jonathan signed the anniversary register, released pigeons from cage and assisted by some top dignitaries, he cut the anniversary cake.

Among those who attended the ceremony include PDP Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur; Primate of Anglican Communion, Arch Bishop Rev. Nicholas Okoh; PDP BOT Chairman, Chief Tony Anineh; Former Information Minister, Prof Jerry Gana; Former Senate President, Sen. Adolphus Wabara; and Former Head of State, Gen Yakubu Gowon. Others were the Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal and his Deputy, Emeka Ihedioha; Senate President, Sen. DID YOU KNOW? Relationships That Begin In The Workplace Most Likely To Result In Marriage

Those who meet after locking eyes over the water cooler are more likely to enjoy long lasting love, new research has revealed.

Despite discouragement from companies and colleagues, office romances are more likely end in marriage than relationships that start in any other way - even meeting through friends.

The trend emerged following a detailed study of 2,000 adults which also found the stresses and strains of work and the sheer number of hours we spend with colleagues to be key factors.

14 per cent of couples who met through work ended up married, compared to 11 per cent who were introduced by friends.

Almost one in ten of those who became an item after a holiday romance also ended up walking down the aisle.

But while relationships which started in work have a good chance of success, 23 per cent of those questioned said attempts to find love during a night out had resulted in nothing more than a one night stand. Another 22 per cent of couples who met in a nightclub didn't get any further than the first night, along with 13 per cent of holiday romances.

Couples who are introduced at a party are also among those who struggle to be more than a casual liaison.

Researchers also found that 51 per cent of people think the place or situation where you meet someone can affect how successful the relationship is.

And almost one in five have even refused to pursue a relationship with someone because they worry the way they met means it is doomed before it starts.

One in five Britons also admitted to lying about how they met their other half, with more than half saying it's because they were too embarrassed by the real story. 37 per cent like to make it sound more interesting than it really was while 17 per cent get bored of telling the same story over and over.

A romantic one in four of those who are currently in a relationship even say they often return to the place they met for an anniversary or special milestone in their relationship.

A spokesman for the survey, commissioned to mark the season eight DVD release of How I Met Your Mother, said:

"You might not think where you meet can affect how long a relationship lasts but it seems those who meet through work can expect more longevity than most. We spend so much time at work that it's inevitable that you will form close friendships that may go onto become a relationship further down the line."

"But being in a relationship where you work in the same place as your partner also means you have something in common before you even get to know each other, and being in the same career means you are both like-minded and have similar interests."

"And while other couples may struggle to talk to their other-half about work when they get home at the end of a long day because they don't understand or simply aren't interested, you're not going to have that problem if you marry a work colleague."

Independence Anniversary: Ekiti, Plateau Governors Pardon 15 Prisoners

Marking Nigeria's independence anniversary, governors of Ekiti and Plateau states granted pardon to a number of prisoners on Tuesday, October 1.

Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti State governor, pardoned ten inmates -- two brothers on a death row among them.

16 years ago, brothers Olabode and Julius Abirifon were sentenced to death by the State High Court, but had their death sentence communed to life imprisonment.

Eight others, Ousola Ojo, Alex Qasum, Segun Olowoyo, Simon Okewe, Opeyemi Ogundele, Joseph Adefase, Taiwo Ibikunle and Kehinde Fagbemi, who had been serving various prison terms, were released unconditionally.

The Governor said he was acting in recommendation of the State Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy, and exercised the power conferred on him by the 1999 Constitution.

He, however, warned the 'ex-criminals' against going back to their old habits, because saying anyone caught committing crime would be prosecuted.

The Governor further announced approval of six per cent increase in the monthly emolument of all pensioners, with effect from January 2014.

With effect from October, 5,000 more elderly citizens of the state would be accommodated under his administration's Social Security Scheme.

He added that another batch of 5,000 youths would be engaged under the Ekiti Youth Volunteer Corps Scheme on a N10,000 monthly allowance. 1,800 youths would be engaged under a newly-introduced Peace Corps Initiative to be launched before the end of October.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the reprieve that came their way was also in commemoration of the 17 years of the creation of Ekiti state.

In Plateau State, Governor Jonah Jang granted amnesty to five prisoners who were serving various terms at the Jos Main Prison.

It was explained in a statement signed by Mr James Mannok, Director of Press Affairs, that the governor's action was in exercise of the powers conferred on him under section 212 of the Nigeria Constitution.

The beneficiaries - Jerry Arin, Iveh Aramah, Peter Gazi, Domchang Jatau and Pankyes Yakubu - were released unconditionally.

The statement urged the beneficiaries to reintegrate themselves into the society and be of good conduct, while participating meaningfully to the development of Plateau.

This goodwill message has been prepared by ACF to mark the nation’s 53 Independence anniversary.

Mr. Anthony Sani, the National Publicity Secretary of the Forum, has signed the statement entitled “ACF rum felicitates with people and government of Nigeria over the occasion of the 53th Independence”, which read the following:

"Nigerians have reasons to celebrate because the independence gives freedom for Nigeria to take its destiny into its hands by determining the content, shape, direction and pace of its socio economic development needed for national solidarity and welfare of all.

There is no doubt that the nation is experiencing hard times. But Nigerians should not allow transient challenges to set their national agenda.

On the contrary, difficult times should bring about national grandeur, purposeful leadership and the best in every one. More so that no nation thrives on victory of its faction but through ultimate reconciliation which is not act of cowardice but of patriotic courage, and even heroism.

Building a country inhabited by people who are socially diverse, economically empowered and politically active demands consciously directed efforts to make what we desire as a collective possible and then actual.

One way of starting this journey is for Nigerians to make judicious use of their democratic rights and ensure that their votes count so that the emerging leaders would be accountable and make poverty history.

To that end, those who relish in employment of violence to solve their perceived concerns should have known by now that such approaches do not solve problems. And so, ACF urges them to lay down their arms and embrace civilized ways of doing things.

It may well be true that corruption has stolen the empowerment, the opportunity and the future of most Nigerians, which have made some people to lose the will to live in the mistaken belief that it is better to die but not alone.

But corruption can thrive only in a corrupt society which glorifies riches which sources are unknown. And so, it is not correct for some people to lose their will to live, worse by taking their lives and those of others along.

This is a wrong headed approach to solving problems. Surely, our problems are not beyond redemption. After all, adversity can be cathartic and constructive as well.

That is why ACF appeals to all Nigerians to use this occasion and resolve to live up the concept of a nation by coming together and unleash their synergy against our common challenges for public good.

This is because the task of overcoming national challenges is a collective responsibility and not for the government alone. In that way, we can make Nigeria feel young again with promise of glory days ahead."

Breaking News: ASUP to Join ASUU Strike in Four DaysThe Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) informed it would embark on an indefinite strike from October, 4, 2013, Friday, to press home their demands.

Mr. Chibuzo Asomugha, the National Chairman of the Union, gave this indication in a chat with P.M.NEWS in the morning of September 30, 2013, Monday.

He stated clearly that the lecturers had been asked to call off the industrial action which they embarked upon early this year but the Federal Government is yet to fulfill the promises made since then.

“We are going on an indefinite strike starting from Friday, 4 October, to remind the Federal Government of the promises they made when they asked us to go back to the classrooms early this year.

“The union believes that the government has failed us in that regard because we trusted them but the conditions were not met,” ASUP chairman stated.

He added that “for these reasons, we have instructed all our member institutions to stay away from the classrooms starting from Friday as we seek a permanent solution to the looming crisis in the education sector of the country.

“We can’t be taken for a ride continuously and that’s why we want a permanent resolution to the promises which had been made.”

This recent development will come as a worry to students in the country as the ongoing strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, is nowhere near its end.

U.S. Starts Hunting For Nigerian Scammers

Nigerian scams are widely known throughout the world. Though they are often poorly disguised, some gullible people still fall for them, and become victims of greedy and sly fraudsters.

In United States, a new government's initiative may put an end to those practices. The body responsible for consumer protection, the Federal Trade Commission, recently signed a memorandum of understanding with two Nigerian agencies to increase cooperation against that type of scam.

"Cross-border scammers use fraudulent emails and other scams to bilk consumers all over the world, while undermining confidence in legitimate businesses," FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez said in a statement announcing the partnership.

The memorandum of understanding is the first to include a foreign criminal enforcement authority, the FTC said.

Are you in a toxic relationship? Would you know if you were?

What are the most common, telltale signs of a toxic relationship? You might answer with "You spend more time fighting than enjoying each other," but that's not the only sign of a toxic relationship. Here are nine more:

1. Hostility. Is your significant other hostile toward you? Are they angry a lot of the time? If you feel you are living with a lot of tension, feeling stressed and not able to express yourself the way you want, your relationship is not healthy for you. You want to feel the safety and security to express your authentic self.

2. Criticism and contempt. Does your significant other criticize or demean you? Are you on edge much of the time because you feel that you can't please your partner or do anything right? Do they make fun of you or criticize you in public, in front of friends or family? Do they act superior towards you or mock you? These are all warning signs of an unhappy, dysfunctional relationship.

3. Avoidance. Do they avoid you? Maybe they give double messages that make you feel confused (e.g. saying "Of course I love you" while not behaving in a loving manner). When they don't want to be physically affectionate, you end up feeling rejected. Meanwhile, they complain that you are too needy.

4. Rigidity. Is your partner open to being influenced by you? Are they self-reflective? When you express how you feel and ask for what you want, do they listen and make an effort to meet your needs? If they refuse to acknowledge that your feelings and needs are important, and refuse to go to counseling, you may be stuck in a toxic relationship. Then you need to ask yourself, "What do I need to do for myself to be happy and satisfied with my life?"

5. Name calling. Also known as "dirty fighting," name calling is a definite sign of toxicity in a relationship. Attempting to hurt someone with words is not the way to resolve conflict or communicate hurt feelings. Problems usually escalate quickly when name-calling is present and it makes it especially difficult to create intimacy and connection in the relationship.

6. You aren't yourself. Do you change your likes, dislikes or opinions when you're with your partner? Feeling like you can't be yourself and adjusting to please for fear of retaliation can be a sign of a toxic relationship. It's important to be able to express yourself honestly in your relationship for authentic love to grow.

7. They're more like an over-inolved parent. He/she decides your career, who you hang out with. When they act like an over-involved parent, they choose which friends stay, which ones go and what kind of clothes you should wear. You've learned from past experiences that your thoughts and opinions do not matter to him and if you express them, you will regret it later on.

8. They are kings of guilt trips. They have a certain knack for making you feel guilty and indebted to him. You feel obligated to give in to whatever they want, especially when they remind you of that thoughtful gesture they've done for you lately. When every gesture comes with strings attached, it might be time to cut the cord.

9. He/she's your secret lover ... but not in a good way. Your family and friends don't like the way they treat you. Since they are more likely to give unsolicited relationship advice, you're afraid that what they have to say may be the truth. So, you tend to avoid talking about them, bringing them around, or involving them in any way with your friends and family.
